A resident of Durham for more than twenty six years, Vaughan is a Certified Research Administrator at Duke University School of Medicine, and Clergy in the community. Her community engagement includes Life Membership in the NAACP and Durham Branch Executive Committee, Legacy Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA).
Vaughan was appointed to a second term as Durham County Faith Community representative on the Homeless Services Advisory Committee(HSAC) and its performance management sub-committee. She has collaborated with non-profit, Faith-based and community projects to address and end homelessness. Vaughan, also a member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA),has collaborated with Faith-based and community projects to address and end homelessness. a transformative experience directing a homeless intervention program stimulated a life-long passion to serve under-represented, under-resourced communities.
Vaughan produced "Voices" highlighting notable community engagement. Her priority focus is affordable housing initiatives, equitable and safe communities, as well as a thriving, sustainable economy for all Durham residents.
